Our Principles of Play
&
Being the Game Changer
DEVELOP AND TRAIN GAME PRINCIPLES: A coach's playing philosophy and principles represents the general description of the football he wants his team to play. Building on this, the approach and gameplay are about principles that the team must take to heart in order to implement the desired way. These principles, which can be formulated for all phases of the game, form a generally valid framework and create an orientation that is independent of the game system. They help players of different ages and abilities to better understand the game and implement basic behavior. They help the coach to convey his understanding of the game clearly and understandably.
Every game situation is subject to a perception and decision-making process that ultimately leads to implementation. Every game situation requires adoption. Principles of Play also help to guide the player through those moments.
Marcel Lowitsch packaged his tactical ideas into 30 Principles of Play. Lowitsch stick to his set philosophy (pressing high and controlling the game with that pressing) before making adaptations to the opposition. The players adapt and develop new game ideas at fast speed. We do want to support and give space for creativity - within the principles and philosophy.
This Academy Program demands a certain amount of physical and mental preperation, tactical understanding and commitment to the principles. Only than we can fulfill our high standards, high intensity style of play & development.
Example 1 - One of his Principle for the Game against the Ball (Gegenpressing):
If the opposing team has the ball, OUR WAY is: “We want to win the ball back as soon as possible!” Depriving the opponent of SPACE and TIME to shape the game means moving the space by consistently moving them crosswise and lengthways to condense into the ball and create a situation of superiority (ball-oriented zonal coverage). The opponent must be put under pressure by aggressively attacking the ball also creating overloads. In our Trainings we explain also, our three strategic pressing zones in which we try to conquer the ball aggressively.
The game against the ball: EVERYONE! The ball-oriented zonal coverage enables aggressive forward defense. You can always exert dominance even though your opponent has the ball. Winning the ball is always a matter for the entire team, not for an individual player: “EVERYONE – ALWAYS – COMPACT!”
Example 2 - One of the Principle for the Game with the Ball (Possession & Build Up):
The first look when in possession of the ball must be to the front. If the long through ball is possible, it must be played. Diagonal. The passing game on the ground and the pre-orientation also a good technical quality must be given.
We search and train also very specifically up-back-through passing patterns. (Steil-Klatsch-Tief).
